Katie Found is a Melbourne-based writer and director.
Her debut feature ‘My First Summer’, currently streaming on Stan Australia, stars Markella Kavenagh (Amazon’s ‘Lord of the Rings’) and Maiah Stewardson (‘Girl Asleep’). The film premiered at Adelaide Film Festival, and went on to screen at many festivals including BFI Flare, Inside Out, Melbourne Queer Film Festival, Queer Screen’s Mardi Gras Film Festival and Out Shine. It received glowing reviews in The Sydney Morning Herald, The New York Times, Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, Cosmopolitan, ABC and Time Out.
She was invited to join the Australian Writers' Guild's Pathways Program in 2016, after her screenplay 'It Will Peck You' won the Monte Miller Award at the 2016 AWGIES. Prior to that, her short film 'The Widow' received funding from Screen NSW, was developed through Metro Screen's First Breaks Program, and screened at film festivals nationally and internationally. Katie completed her Masters of Screenwriting at VCA in 2020 and has recently received development funding from Film Victoria for her latest screenplay, a psychological horror about postpartum psychosis titled ‘Down Came the Rain’.
